  Employee pharmacy information     Prescription Assistance Program

Employees using the Outpatient Pharmacy will have reduced co-pays, be able to request refills on-line with delivery to Cape Fear Hospital and may purchase over-the-counter items at a significant discount. Also, payment can be made through payroll deduct.

Employee Pharmacy Services are available to employees (and their dependents) of:

  • New Hanover Regional Medical Center
  • Cape Fear Hospital
  • New Hanover Health Network Foundation
  • Medical Mall
  • Coastal AHEC
  • Lower Cape Fear Hospice
  • Oleander and Independence Rehabilitation
  • The Forum Diagnostic Center
  • Wilmington Health Access for Teens

Dependents include:

  • Spouse
  • Unmarried dependent children under age 19
  • Unmarried dependent children who are full-time students up to age 26
  • Child who is incapable of self-support because of mental or physical handicap and who became incapable of self-support before age 19 while covered as a dependent

Insurance Coverage
Insurance claims can be filed for United Healthcare only.

If a medication co-pay does not fall on one of the three tiers listed ($5, $15, or $30), the maximum possible discount has already been applied. No further reduction in co-pay is available.

    Payroll Deduction - Badge must be presented for pickup. (Not accepted for employees on leave, retirees, or volunteers)

    Laymon Medical Expense Account (*Blistex, Chapstick, and Nicoderm Patches are not eligible for Laymon Deduction*)

    Refill requests may be called in to 910-815-5180 or submitted online using the following forms:

    Please allow one business day for your request to be processed. Allow two business days if delivery to Cape Fear Hospital Pharmacy is requested.

Prescription Delivery

    Delivery to Cape Fear Hospital Pharmacy is available for refills purchased with payroll deduct only.

    Please indicate your request for delivery when submitting your order. Please allow two business days for your order to be processed.

Prescription Drop-Off
Prescriptions may be dropped off at:

    New Hanover Regional Medical Center Hospital Pharmacy

    Cape Fear Hospital Pharmacy

When dropping off a prescription at either New Hanover Regional or Cape Fear, please print, fill out and attach this form to your prescription(s).

    Please allow two business days for your prescription(s) to be processed for pick up at the Outpatient Pharmacy (Medical Mall).

    Delivery is not available for new prescriptions.

Prescription transfers

    Transfer requests may be called in to 910-815-5180

    Please allow one business day for your request to be processed. Delivery not available for transferred prescriptions.

The following non-prescription items are available for purchase from the Outpatient Pharmacy:

    Limit two of each item per employee per day

    Identification badge required for pick-up

These products may be obtained from the Outpatient Pharmacy in person unless you are requesting delivery to Cape Fear. If Cape Fear delivery is requested, please use this form and allow one business day for order processing and delivery. However, if an order delivery of OTC items to Cape Fear is placed by 11 a.m. on a business day, items will arrive the same business day.

Who is eligible?

Any patient who is unable to pay for medications, has no other resources to assist with payment AND either has been:

    Discharged from New Hanover Regional Medical Center, Cape Fear Hospital, Coastal Rehabilitation Hospital or the Oaks Behavioral Health Hospital

    Seen in the NHRMC Outpatient Clinics

    Seen in the emergency department at NHRMC or Cape Fear Hospital

What does this service provide?

    Approximately a two-week supply of medication for patients discharged from the emergency department or after a stay as an in-patient

    Approximately a one-month supply of medication for patients seen in the outpatient clinics

Prescription Assistance Program

Who is eligible?

    Patients who qualify to receive medications from pharmaceutical companies, based on income

    Any patient seen in the NHRMC Outpatient Clinics

What does this service provide?

    Chronic medications for patients seen in the Outpatient Clinics
